Infants are unable to communicate if they have hearing difficulties, which is why Idaho Sound Beginnings is committed to offering newborn hearing screenings for every baby born in Idaho. From the moment of birth, children start to listen, learn, and develop communication skills, and even minor hearing impairments can result in delays in language and learning. All hospitals in Idaho conduct newborn hearing screenings prior to the baby's discharge. For those born outside of a hospital, screenings are available through the local Infant Toddler program.
