You can receive help with federal tax problems through IRS' Everyday Tax Solutions. You may visit your local IRS office without an appointment or schedule one by calling the appropriate number and leaving a message. At these centers, knowledgeable staff can assist you with: * Filing innocent spouse claims if you believe you are not responsible for your spouse's portion of a joint tax liability; * Setting up an installment agreement if you are unable to pay your taxes in full; * Preparing an offer in compromise to resolve an unpaid tax obligation; * Requesting the release of federal tax liens and levies when suitable; and * Addressing IRS account and notice concerns. * Additional services available without an advance appointment include: * Answers to your tax inquiries; * Information regarding your tax account; * Assistance with preparing your basic individual income tax return if your income is $35,000 or less; and * Help with your heavy vehicle use tax return.
