Parents As Teachers - Cdh

The Central District Health Department is excited to introduce a new initiative named Parents As Teachers, set to begin shortly. This early childhood home visiting program aims to foster strong communities, healthy families, and children who are safe and prepared for learning. The visiting staff will assist parents in discovering new methods to engage with their children through developmentally appropriate activities. For over 30 years, Parents As Teachers has been implemented across the nation and has achieved four key objectives: enhancing parental understanding of early childhood development and improving parenting skills, early identification of developmental delays and health concerns, prevention of child abuse and neglect, and promoting children's readiness for school and academic success. Families can enroll in the program during pregnancy or any time until their child turns three. Participation is free, requiring only a commitment from parents. While parenting can be both rewarding and challenging, our goal is to offer support, screening, and connections to other parents and community resources.
