Treasure Valley Brain Injury Support Group

Community Resource

Serves: Boise, Ada County

About this resource

Founded in 1984, the Treasure Valley Brain Injury Support Group focuses on providing support and educational resources for individuals who have experienced a brain injury, along with their families and friends. Participation in the group is free of charge. Each meeting begins with educational presentations by community professionals, followed by support group sessions tailored for individuals with brain injuries and their family members or friends. These sessions create a secure environment for sharing experiences and collaboratively addressing challenges, although the group is not classified as a therapy group. Facilitators are available to help maintain discussion topics and can refer participants to formal therapy if needed. The group's philosophy emphasizes the importance of mutual support to alleviate feelings of isolation and loneliness often faced by members. Meetings occur on the fourth Thursday of each month, excluding May, June, and July, and feature a new guest speaker each month addressing various topics related to traumatic brain injury (TBI). The meetings are held at St. Luke's Hospital, located at 600 N. Robbins Road, Boise, ID, in the Large Elk Conference Rooms. Flyers with meeting details can be sent out prior to each session, and the group operates in English.
