Women's And Children's Alliance Crisis Center

The Women's and Children's Alliance delivers extensive services for individuals impacted by domestic and sexual violence. Established in 1980, this nonprofit organization has been dedicated to safeguarding women and their children fleeing abusive situations. The WCA Crisis Center features secure residential shelters that primarily cater to battered women and their children from Ada, Boise, Elmore, and Valley counties. The agency also provides a wide range of local support services tailored for those dealing with domestic and sexual violence. Services include a 24-hour hotline for domestic violence and sexual assault, temporary shelter, a residential program (offering shelter for up to 120 days), support groups, individual counseling, case management, educational classes, and court advocacy for women facing domestic violence and sexual assault. Children of parents using these services can also access shelter and residential programs, with on-site childcare available during support groups and classes, provided that a 24-hour notice is given. Additional offerings include clothing, counseling, parenting courses, and assistance with various programs, alongside a self-help initiative. One-on-one counseling and educational support groups are also available. Note that clients must provide their own food. The WCA also operates a Thrift Shop, where community members donate clothing, household items, and other valuables for sale to the public, with proceeds supporting the Crisis Center. Importantly, these items are provided free of charge to residents of the Crisis Center. The Thrift Shop operates from 9:00 am to 4:30 pm, Monday through Friday, and services are available in English, with translators on hand if needed.
