Life, A Center For Independent Living

Life, A Center for Independent Living (CIL) is a non-profit and consumer-led organization aimed at empowering individuals with disabilities to lead independent lives within their communities. Generally, eligibility extends to anyone with a significant disability who requires support to sustain or enhance their independence, irrespective of their age or financial situation. The CIL offers five essential services: Information & Referral, Independent Living Skills Training, Peer Support, Individual and Systems Advocacy, and Transition Services, all based on the belief that individuals with disabilities understand their needs best. Additional offerings include Personal Assistant Services, typically available to those on Idaho's Medicaid Aged and Disabled waiver, but also accessible through private pay, utilizing a self-directed approach where consumers can hire and oversee their assistants. Furthermore, there is an Assistive Technology/Durable Medical Equipment Loan Bank that supplies a range of equipment for short-term loans at no charge. Services are available in English, Spanish, and Portuguese.
