National Federation Of The Blind Of Idaho

The NFB's mission is to guarantee opportunity, security, and equality for all citizens who are blind. It serves a dual purpose: to empower blind individuals to build self-confidence and self-respect, and to provide a platform for their collective expression. Members work to inform the public that blind people are regular individuals capable of competing equally with those who are sighted. The NFB offers a variety of services for blind and visually impaired individuals of all ages, including public education on blindness, information and referral services, scholarships, literature about blindness, adaptive equipment, and advocacy for civil rights. They have also established Job Opportunities for the Blind and Newsline for the Blind (a newspaper accessible via telephone), and are engaged in developing and assessing technology and support for blind individuals and their families. Annually, the NFB of Idaho grants scholarships during its State Convention in early spring to blind students entering college. Languages: English.
