Vocational Rehabilitation - Pocatello

The Idaho Division of Vocational Rehabilitation operates as a State of Idaho agency under the Idaho State Board of Education, focusing primarily on employment. It offers personalized vocational counseling and guidance, along with various services to help individuals with disabilities make informed career choices leading to successful employment. The Division manages two significant programs: the Renal Disease Program and the Vocational Rehabilitation Program. For those with renal (kidney) disease, the Division provides a state-supported medical assistance program that addresses the medical and financial needs of clients facing end-stage renal disease, taking into account their ability to pay for services. Additionally, there is a program for kidney patients who are able to work, which falls under the Vocational Rehabilitation Program. The Division also collaborates with the Department of Health and Welfare's Mental Health Program to support individuals with severe and persistent mental illness, utilizing a team approach to promote community employment. Assertive Community Action (ACT) teams are established statewide to facilitate this. Furthermore, VR aids students with disabilities in transitioning from school to work, maintaining partnerships with schools across the state to provide necessary assistance. Students can apply directly for services with a school referral, provided they meet the eligibility criteria. The Division is dedicated to serving minority populations, including Migrant Seasonal Farm Workers (MSFW), who may need support due to disabilities affecting their work. Additionally, VR proactively assists inmates with disabilities in reintegrating into the community, collaborating with various stakeholders to enhance their employment prospects.
