Vocational Rehabilitation - Pocatello

The Idaho Division of Vocational Rehabilitation operates under the governance of the Idaho State Board of Education, aiming primarily to facilitate employment for individuals with disabilities. It offers tailored vocational guidance, counseling, and additional services to empower clients in making informed career choices for successful employment. The Division manages two key programs: the Renal Disease Program and the Vocational Rehabilitation Program. For those with renal disease, it provides a state-funded medical assistance program that addresses both medical and financial needs for clients with end-stage renal disease, considering their financial situation for eligibility. Additionally, it supports kidney patients who are able to work through the Vocational Rehabilitation Program. The Division collaborates with the Department of Health and Welfare’s Mental Health Program to aid individuals with severe mental illnesses, using a team-based approach to facilitate community employment. Assertive Community Action (ACT) teams operate statewide to support this initiative. Furthermore, VR aids students with disabilities in transitioning from education to employment, maintaining connections with schools to assist those in need. Students can apply directly for services with a school referral, provided they meet the eligibility criteria. The Division is also dedicated to assisting migrant seasonal farm workers with disabilities who face challenges in continuing their traditional work roles. Additionally, VR has developed a proactive program to help inmates with disabilities reintegrate into society, working closely with various stakeholders to facilitate their transition into the workforce.
