Vocational Rehabilitation - Pocatello

The Idaho Division of Vocational Rehabilitation operates as a state agency under the Idaho State Board of Education, focusing primarily on employment opportunities. It offers tailored vocational counseling and guidance, along with additional services to help individuals with disabilities make informed career choices leading to successful employment. The Division oversees two key programs: the Renal Disease Program and the Vocational Rehabilitation Program. For those with renal disease, it provides a state-supported medical assistance program that manages both medical and financial aspects for clients with end-stage renal disease, considering their financial capacity for service payment. Additionally, it supports kidney patients who are able to work through the Vocational Rehabilitation Program. For individuals with severe mental illness, VR collaborates with the Department of Health and Welfare's Mental Health Program to deliver services aimed at integrating them into the workforce, utilizing a team approach through Assertive Community Action (ACT) teams across the state. VR also aids students with disabilities in transitioning from school to employment, maintaining connections with schools statewide to provide necessary assistance, allowing students to apply directly with school referrals, provided they meet eligibility criteria. Furthermore, VR is dedicated to serving migrant seasonal farm workers with disabilities who need help to continue their work or shift to different employment due to their condition. The agency also proactively assists inmates with disabilities in reintegrating into the community, working with the Department of Probation and Parole and medical professionals to facilitate their return to the workforce.
