Head Start (Coeur D'Alene Tribe) - Plummer

The Head Start and Early Head Start Program is a national initiative designed for preschool-age children from families that meet income eligibility requirements. Local nonprofit organizations operate Head Start centers across the nation. Applications are accepted for children aged 3 and 5, specifically targeting families whose income falls below poverty standards. Eligible children must be 3 years old by September 1, including those with special needs or who are considered high risk. A limited number of over-income children with special needs may also be accepted. The program addresses various needs, including medical, dental, educational, and social services, and is available at no cost. Families must provide proof of income, the child's birth date, immunization records, and physical examinations. Additional supportive services include social services, parent involvement, nutrition, mental health, health education, disability support, and transportation. Head Start aims to enhance the lives of children, families, staff, and the community by providing quality education and family-centered services. The program serves children aged 0-5 years and operates four days a week, providing three meals daily.
