Head Start (Aberdeen) - Manuel Cavazos

Seasonal Head Start operates from May to November and is a nationwide preschool initiative designed for children from income-eligible families. Managed by local nonprofit organizations across the country, it accepts applications for children aged 0 to 5 years, particularly those from families whose income falls below poverty levels. The program also accommodates children with special needs or those considered high-risk, and a limited number of over-income children with special needs may be accepted. Services are provided at no cost and include assistance with medical, dental, educational, and social service needs. Families must provide proof of income, the child's birth date, and immunization records. The program offers various supportive services, including social services, parent involvement, nutrition, mental health, health education, and transportation. Head Start aims to enrich the lives of children, families, staff, and the community, helping families navigate challenges through quality education and family-centered services. The program runs five days a week for 12 hours each day, providing four meals to children. Parents are encouraged to volunteer, and positive parenting classes are offered to assist families in educational matters. Services are available in both English and Spanish.
