Environmental Health initiatives focus on the intersection of human health with the surrounding physical environment, covering areas such as daycare, epidemiology (animal bites, food and waterborne illnesses), food establishment permits and inspections, indoor air quality (including radon), lead health programs, methamphetamine lab oversight, public pool regulations, and solid waste management. Land Development programs address critical materials regulation, mortgage surveys, non-domestic wastewater, public water systems, Rathdrum Aquifer protection, shallow injection well inventory, subdivision review, and subsurface sewage evaluations and permits. The Immunization Registry is a free, confidential service that helps individuals track their vaccination history and ensures they receive necessary vaccines. The WIC (Women, Infants, and Children) Program offers supplemental nutrition assistance, including healthy foods, health screenings, nutrition classes, community program information, referrals to healthcare providers, individual counseling with dietitians, breastfeeding support, and educational materials.
