Head Start (Idaho Falls) - El Castillito

Head Start is a national preschool initiative aimed at children from families that qualify based on income. Local nonprofit organizations manage Head Start centers across the country. The program accepts applications for children aged 0 to 5 years from families whose income falls below poverty thresholds, including those with special needs or at high risk. A limited number of over-income children with special needs may also be accepted. The program provides assistance with medical, dental, educational, and social service requirements at no cost. Documentation required includes proof of income, child's birth date, and immunization records. Head Start offers various supportive services such as social services, parent involvement, nutrition, mental health, health education, and disability support. The program enriches the lives of children, families, staff, and the community, aiding families in overcoming challenges through quality education and family-centered services. It operates a five-day-a-week program for children aged 0-5, providing 12 hours of service each day and serving four meals.
