Head Start (Idaho Falls) La Estrellita

The Seasonal Head Start program is available from May to November, coinciding with the harvesting season, and operates for twelve hours each day, typically from 5:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. The center offers free transportation, two meals, and two snacks daily, along with complimentary preventative health, dental, developmental, and speech screenings. The educational focus is primarily in the children's first language, and the majority of participants are of Hispanic heritage. This nationwide preschool initiative is designed for children from income-eligible families and is managed by local nonprofit organizations. Applications are accepted for children aged 0-5, including those with special needs or at high risk, with a limited number of spots available for over-income children with special needs. Services are provided at no cost, requiring verification of income, the child's birth date, and immunization records. Head Start also offers supportive services such as social services, parent involvement, nutrition, mental health, health, education, disabilities, and dental care, while promoting family engagement through quality education and support.
