Mental Health Services (Adult/Children) - Idaho Falls, Dhw7
Community Resource
About this resource
Public mental health services are organized into key areas: Community Crisis Response and assistance for adults with Severe and Persistent Mental Illness (SPMI) or children with significant emotional disturbances. COMMUNITY CRISIS RESPONSE SERVICES serve as the initial intervention for adults undergoing mental health crises, which may include psychiatric symptoms like self-harm or threats to others. Each Welfare region in Idaho features a community health center along with one or more satellite offices that offer 24-hour crisis response services, including hotlines, emergency in-person psychiatric assessments, treatment referrals, and consultations with law enforcement, local hospitals, and other social service agencies as needed. SEVERE AND PERSISTENT MENTAL ILLNESS services are aimed at individuals aged 18 and older who experience the most severe and ongoing forms of mental illness. Eligible individuals must have a diagnosis such as schizophrenia, schizo-affective disorder, major affective disorder, delusional disorder, or borderline personality disorder. This psychiatric condition must significantly disrupt functioning in at least two areas, either continuously or intermittently. SPMI services encompass screening and referral, assertive community treatment, crisis intervention, case management, psychiatric and medical services, short-term outpatient therapy, individual and group psychosocial rehabilitation, consultation and education, and community-supported employment. The Mental Health Program is overseen by the Division of Behavioral Health. Services are available in English, with interpreters accessible as needed. Intake Procedure: Call for screening to establish eligibility.
