Head Start (Boundary) Julien Bucher Early Learning Center

Head Start is a nationwide preschool initiative aimed at children from families that qualify based on income. Local nonprofit organizations operate Head Start centers across the country. Applications are accepted for children aged 3 and 4 years old. Families must have an income below poverty guidelines, and children should be 3 or 4 years old by August 31. The program also accommodates children with special needs or those at high risk, accepting a limited number of over-income children with special needs. Services provided include assistance with medical, dental, educational, and social service needs at no cost. Required documentation includes proof of income, the child's birth date, and immunization records. Supportive services offered by Head Start encompass social services, parent involvement, nutrition, mental health, health, education, disabilities, dental care, and transportation. The program aims to enrich the lives of children, families, staff, and the community, helping families navigate challenges through quality education and family-centered services. Head Start serves low-income children aged 3-5 years and operates a four-day-a-week program, providing meals daily. Parent volunteering is encouraged, and positive parenting classes are available to assist families in educational areas. The primary language of instruction is English.
