Environmental Health initiatives focus on the intersection of human health and the physical environment, covering areas such as Day Care, Epidemiology (Animal Bites, Food and Waterborne Illness), Food Establishments (Permits, Plan Reviews, Inspections), Indoor Air Quality (Radon), Lead Health Program, Methamphetamine Labs, Public Pools, and Solid Waste. Land Development programs address Critical Materials Regulation, Mortgage Surveys, Non-Domestic Waste Water, Public Water Systems, Rathdrum Aquifer Protection, Shallow Injection Well Inventory, Subdivision Review, and Subsurface Sewage (Site Evaluations, Permits, Inspections). Overseas immunizations are available by appointment, and adult vaccines like Td boosters, hepatitis B, hepatitis A, pneumonia, and influenza may also be offered. The Immunization Registry is a free, confidential service that tracks immunizations for individuals and families, ensuring they receive necessary vaccines on time. The WIC (Women, Infants, and Children) Program supplies healthy food vouchers, health screenings, nutrition classes, community program information, and individual counseling with registered dietitians, serving pregnant women, breastfeeding mothers, infants, and children under five.
