Head Start (Caldwell) - Casa De Colores

The Seasonal Head Start program is available from May to October, coinciding with the harvesting season. It functions for twelve hours a day, typically from 5:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., providing free transportation, two meals, and two snacks daily, along with free preventive health, dental, developmental, and speech screenings. The program focuses on education in the primary language of the children, primarily serving those of Hispanic background. Head Start is a nationwide initiative aimed at preschoolers from income-eligible families, managed by local nonprofit organizations across the country. Applications are accepted for children aged 0-5, including those with special needs or at high risk, with a limited number of spots for over-income children with special needs. The program addresses medical, dental, educational, and social service needs at no cost. Required documentation includes proof of income, the child's birth date, and immunization records. The services encompass social services, parent involvement, nutrition, mental health, health education, disabilities, and dental care, with transportation provided. Head Start aims to enrich the lives of children, families, staff, and the community while supporting families through quality education and family-centered services. Parents are encouraged to volunteer, and positive parenting classes are offered to assist in education. Services are available in both English and Spanish.
