Head Start (Caldwell) - Community Council Of Idaho

The centers function during the harvesting season from May to November, typically running from 5:00 am to 5:00 pm for twelve hours each day. They offer complimentary transportation for children, along with two meals and two snacks daily, as well as free preventative health, dental, developmental, and speech screenings for families eligible for CHIP or Medicaid Services. The program focuses on education in the child's primary language. Migrant & Seasonal Head Start is a nationwide initiative designed for preschool-aged children from low-income families, managed by local nonprofits or public agencies across the country. Applications are accepted for children aged 0 to 5, specifically targeting families whose income falls below poverty levels, including those with special needs or at high risk. A limited number of over-income children may be accepted, and all eligible migrant children with special needs are welcomed regardless of income if space permits. The program assists children with medical, dental, educational, and social service needs at no cost. Required documentation includes proof of agricultural income, migrancy verification, the child's birth date, and immunization records. Additional supportive services offered by Migrant Head Start include social services, parent involvement, nutrition, mental health, health, education, disabilities, and transportation. Head Start aims to enhance the lives of children, families, staff, and the community, providing quality education and family-focused services to help families navigate life's challenges. The program accepts children from low-income families aged 0-5 years and operates five days a week for 12 hours, providing four meals daily. Parents are encouraged to volunteer, and the program also supports educational initiatives with positive parenting classes.
