About this resource

MEDICAL RESERVE CORPS PHONE # 208-737-5981DISTRICT OFFICE: The seven health districts in Idaho work closely with the Department of Health and Welfare, along with several state and local organizations. Each district has a health board appointed by county commissioners and operates independently from state agencies. They address local needs by offering a range of services that can differ from one district to another. These services include community health nursing, home health nursing, environmental health, dental hygiene, and nutrition programs, many of which are provided through contracts with the Department of Health and Welfare. For the most current information about available services in your area, reach out to your local District Health Department. Additionally, the Public Health Preparedness and Communication Systems office (Bioterrorism Planning) collaborates with the Idaho Department of Health and Welfare, other public health districts, healthcare providers, and emergency responders to create a unified statewide strategy for preparing for and responding to bioterrorism threats and other public health crises. ENVIRONMENTAL HEALTH: Programs in Environmental Health address the connections between human health and the physical environment, as well as the surrounding ecosystem. **Environmental Health Programs cover: Day Care; Epidemiology (Animal Bites, Food and Water Borne Illness); Food Establishments (Permits, Plan Reviews, Inspections); Indoor Air Quality (Radon); Lead Health Program; Methamphetamine Labs; Public Pools; Solid Waste.** Land Development programs include: Critical Materials Regulation; Mortgage Surveys; Non-Domestic Waste Water; Public Water Systems; Rathdrum Aquifer Protection; Shallow Injection Well Inventory; Subdivision Review; Subsurface Sewage (Site Evaluations, Permits, Inspections). These vaccinations are low-cost or free for parents who cannot afford them. Overseas immunizations are available by appointment.
