ENVIRONMENTAL HEALTH: Environmental Health programs address issues linking human health with the physical environment and local ecosystems. **These programs encompass: Day Care; Epidemiology (Animal Bites, Food and Water Borne Illness); Food Establishments (Permits, Plan Reviews, Inspections); Indoor Air Quality (Radon); Lead Health Program; Methamphetamine Labs; Public Pools; Solid Waste.** Land Development initiatives include: Critical Materials Regulation; Mortgage Surveys; Non-Domestic Waste Water; Public Water Systems; Rathdrum Aquifer Protection; Shallow Injection Well Inventory; Subdivision Review; Subsurface Sewage (Site Evaluations, Permits, Inspections). FAMILY PLANNING: Offers comprehensive Family Planning services, including education, counseling, pregnancy testing, thorough physical exams (covering cancer screenings, STD screenings, and HIV testing) and referrals. IMMUNIZATIONS: Local health departments provide routine childhood vaccinations through clinics at the health department or occasionally at special off-site locations. These vaccinations are either low-cost or free for parents who cannot afford them. Overseas immunizations are available by appointment. Contact the local health department to determine the necessary vaccines for specific travel destinations. Travelers receiving vaccines from the health department will be responsible for the vaccine costs. Adult vaccines such as Td boosters, hepatitis B, hepatitis A, pneumonia, and influenza may also be offered. The Immunization Registry is a free, voluntary, and confidential service that tracks immunizations for individuals and their families, ensuring they receive only the necessary vaccines when needed.
