Idaho Drug Free Youth Inc

Idaho Drug Free Youth (IDFY) operates as a statewide initiative focused on the prevention of drug, alcohol, and tobacco use, with leadership provided by middle and high school students. Its mission is to educate, inspire, and assist young people in refraining from substance use. IDFY has various chapters across the state, all managed by the teen members with support from advisors. Participants commit to avoiding substances and can validate this commitment through voluntary urinalysis. They are issued a photo ID card that grants them discounts and rewards from local businesses statewide. The program adheres to the principles of effectiveness set by the State Department of Education's Safe and Drug Free School initiative and is informed by Hawkins and Catalano's research on risk and protective factors.
