Habitat For Humanity - North Idaho

Habitat for Humanity is a nonprofit, ecumenical Christian housing organization that collaborates with local communities to construct affordable homes. These homes are sold to families in need without profit and without interest. To qualify as a Habitat Family, applicants must meet several criteria: their current housing must be inadequate, they should not have access to better housing options, their income must align with HUD annual income guidelines, they must have lived or worked in Canyon County for at least one year, they need to be capable of making the zero-interest monthly mortgage payments, and they must be willing to contribute 250 hours of volunteer work, known as "sweat equity," before moving in. Additionally, applicants should be prepared to partner with Habitat by attending homeownership classes, creating a family budget before final selection, and providing a $500 down payment before construction is completed. They should also be able to maintain and repair their future home. Languages spoken include English.
