The Living Well In Idaho initiative, led by Joanna Adams (Chronic Disease Self Management Programs, 208-415-5141), includes several health programs. I-PAN and Adolescent Pregnancy Prevention, managed by Lisa Kolenda, RN (208-415-5284), focus on comprehensive pregnancy prevention for high school students. The Diabetes Education Program, accessible via www.healthandwelfare.idaho.gov, collaborates with Idaho's health systems to mitigate diabetes and its complications through education and awareness, offering a free resource called "Control Your Diabetes" at 1-877-214-5433. The Injury Prevention Program provides seniors aged 65 and older with exercise information to enhance flexibility, strength, balance, and endurance. The Oral Health Program, funded by the Maternal and Child Health Title V Block Grant, aims to promote oral health and prevent dental diseases through local programs in partnership with the state's seven district health departments. Additionally, the Tobacco Prevention, Control, and Cessation Program focuses on preventing smoking and spit tobacco use, along with addressing secondhand smoke through education and advocacy. Local public health departments utilize Idaho Tobacco Millennium Funds to offer free cessation classes for pregnant women, youth, and adults, with interpreter services available in English.
