The Living Well In Idaho initiative, led by Joanna Adams for Chronic Disease Self Management Programs, and Lisa Kolenda, RN, for both I-PAN and Adolescent Pregnancy Prevention, aims to provide extensive pregnancy prevention resources for high school students. The Diabetes Education Program works alongside Idaho's health systems to mitigate diabetes and its complications through educational efforts and awareness initiatives, promoting diabetes care standards. For diabetes information, individuals can call 1-877-214-5433, a free Medicare resource for those affected by diabetes. The Injury Prevention Program focuses on enhancing the physical capabilities of seniors aged 65 and above through exercise guidance aimed at improving flexibility, strength, balance, and endurance. Funded by the Maternal and Child Health Title V Block Grant, the Oral Health Program seeks to advance oral health and prevent dental issues via local programs that include school-based fluoride mouth rinse initiatives. Additionally, the Tobacco Prevention, Control, and Cessation Program tackles smoking and spit tobacco prevention, as well as addressing secondhand smoke through educational advocacy to promote behavioral and policy changes. The Idaho Tobacco Millennium Funds support local health departments in offering complimentary tobacco cessation classes for pregnant women, youth, and adults, with language assistance available upon request.
