Yana--Telephone Reassurance-Pfpd

Community Resource

Serves: Post Falls, Kootenai County

About this resource

The Y.A.N.A. program aims to establish daily phone connections for individuals with few family or community ties. This initiative serves senior citizens in Post Falls by conducting telephone welfare checks for those living independently who could benefit from regular check-ins. The program is intended to enhance the safety and well-being of seniors, disabled, or homebound individuals. Volunteers will make calls from Monday to Friday; if they successfully reach the individual, they will perform a simple wellness check over the phone. If there's no response after multiple attempts, an emergency contact will be alerted, and a police officer will be dispatched to ensure the individual's safety. This service is offered at no cost by the Post Falls Police Department as a community resource. Eligibility includes anyone residing alone in Post Falls who can use a phone and has an emergency contact. To apply, call 773-3517 at the Post Falls Police Department to speak with a VIPS Coordinator, who will assist with the application process. The application form is also accessible on the Post Falls Police Department website at www.postfallspolice.com, and all information will remain confidential. For inquiries, reach out to the Community Service Administrator at the Post Falls Police Department (773-3517). Languages available: English. Intake Procedure: Applications can be submitted in person or mailed to the Post Falls Police Department.
