Habitat For Humanity - Palouse

Habitat for Humanity is a nonprofit, ecumenical Christian housing organization that collaborates with local communities to create affordable housing solutions. These homes are sold to families in need at no profit and without interest. To qualify as a Habitat Family, applicants must meet several criteria: their current housing situation must be inadequate, they should not be able to secure suitable housing through other avenues, their income must align with HUD's annual income guidelines, and they must have resided or worked in Canyon County for at least a year. Additionally, they must demonstrate the ability to make zero-interest monthly mortgage payments, commit to completing 300 to 500 hours of volunteer work (referred to as 'sweat equity') before moving in, and be willing to partner with Habitat by attending homeownership classes, preparing a family budget before final selection, and providing a $1000 down payment prior to the completion of construction. Furthermore, they should be capable of maintaining and repairing their home. Languages spoken include English. For intake procedures, please reach out for more information.
