About this resource
You can request applications either in person or by phone, but they need to be submitted in written form. To receive an application packet by mail, contact the 2-1-1 Idaho CareLine (dial 2-1-1 or 1-800-926-2588). The Self-Reliance programs include options such as electronic application submissions starting in July. **Cash Assistance (TAFI, Temporary Assistance for Families in Idaho) supports low-income families with children, imposing a 24-month lifetime limit for adults. Participants must pursue employment, training, or educational opportunities to qualify. Pregnant women without other children can qualify for TAFI only if they have a medical condition preventing work and are in their last trimester. Unmarried minors with children must live with their parents unless there are valid reasons otherwise.** Food Stamps assist low-income households by providing necessary food benefits to promote health and stabilize labor markets. **Child Care. The Idaho Child Care Program (ICCP) helps subsidize child care costs for low-income families who are working, job searching, attending training or education, or require preventive services. Eligible families will be referred to licensed childcare providers through the ICCP referral program. Call 2-1-1 or 1-800-926-2588. Benefits are determined on a sliding-fee scale.** Idaho Medicaid Benefit Plans aim to enhance health, identify health issues early, and manage existing health conditions. Eligible individuals will receive benefits tailored to their health needs. The available plans include: - Medicaid Basic Plan, which covers healthy low-income children and adults with eligible dependents, offering comprehensive health, prevention, and wellness benefits. Most participants will enroll in this plan. - Medicaid Enhanced Plan, designed for individuals with disabilities or special health needs, includes all Basic Plan benefits plus additional services. Existing programs will remain active post-July 2006: 1. The Pregnant Women and Children (PWC) plan provides medical assistance for qualifying pregnant women. 2. The CHIP program (both CHIP A and CHIP B) has been replaced; eligible children will be enrolled in Idaho Medicaid under the new plans. 3. Qualified Medicare Beneficiary Plan (QMB) is limited to Medicare-covered services only. **The Children's Access Card is a premium assistance initiative in collaboration with Idaho insurance providers, offering eligible children up to $100 monthly or $300 for families with three or more children.** Aid to the Aged, Blind, and Disabled (AABD) offers cash assistance and medical coverage to low-income Idahoans aged 65 or older, or those who are blind or disabled (disability must be verified by the Social Security Administration). **Telephone Assistance aids the elderly, low-income, or disabled individuals (based on income) with telephone installation and monthly service costs. To apply, complete an application at your local Health and Welfare office or Community Action Agency.** Emergency Assistance (EA) provides support for individuals with children at home needing work-related services, such as tools, transportation costs, and clothing. **Quest Card/EBT (Electronic Benefits Transfer) is utilized for Food Stamps and Welfare Cash Payments. The Self-Reliance Program is managed by the Division of Welfare. Languages available include English, with interpreters accessible.** Intake Procedure: Applications can be initiated by calling or walking in; written submissions are mandatory.
