Nimiipuu Health

Nimiipuu Health has two facilities dedicated to serving Native Americans on the Nez Perce Reservation, located in Lapwai and Kamiah. The Community Health Department encompasses various programs, including Community Health Representatives, WIC and Nutrition, Maternal Child Health, Public Health Nursing, Diabetes care, and a Wellness Center that provides services like acupuncture, massage, and exercise. They offer an array of services, such as skilled nursing visits, home visits for prenatal and postnatal care, case management, discharge planning, and transportation. The diabetes program provides numerous options for individuals with diabetes, including vision and foot care, diabetic shoe services, and access to a Registered Dietician and Nurse Educator. Additionally, the Diabetes Program features several prevention initiatives aimed at encouraging lifestyle changes, focusing on healthy eating and increased physical activity. Home visits are now available, and they offer FREE nicotine replacement therapy (patches, gum, or lozenges) to eligible participants who collaborate with the local tribal health clinic to quit using tobacco products.
