Community Resource

Serves: Malad, Oneida County

About this resource

Public mental health services are organized into key areas: Community Crisis Response and assistance for adults facing Severe and Persistent Mental Illness (SPMI) or children with significant emotional disturbances. COMMUNITY CRISIS RESPONSE SERVICES serve as the first point of contact for adults in mental health crises, which may involve psychiatric symptoms like self-harm or threats to others. Each Welfare region in Idaho is equipped with a community health center and additional satellite offices that offer 24/7 crisis response services, including hotlines, emergency psychiatric evaluations, treatment referrals, and collaboration with law enforcement, hospitals, and other social services as needed. SEVERE AND PERSISTENT MENTAL ILLNESS services cater to individuals aged 18 and older diagnosed with severe mental disorders such as schizophrenia, schizo-affective disorder, major affective disorder, delusional disorder, or borderline personality disorder. The severity of these conditions must significantly impact the individual's ability to function in at least two areas of their life, either consistently or occasionally. SPMI services encompass screening and referral, assertive community treatment, crisis intervention, case management, psychiatric and medical services, short-term outpatient therapy, individual and group psychosocial rehabilitation, as well as consultation, education, and community-supported employment. The Mental Health Program is managed by the Division of Behavioral Health, with services available in English and interpreters upon request. Intake Procedure: Call for screening to assess eligibility.
