Head Start (Weiser) - El Venadito

Head Start is a national preschool initiative tailored for children from families that meet income eligibility criteria. Local nonprofit organizations operate Head Start centers across the country, accepting applications for children aged 0 to 5 years. Families must have incomes below poverty thresholds, and the program also accommodates children with special needs or those at high risk, including a limited number of over-income children with special needs. The program provides assistance with medical, dental, educational, and social services at no cost. Families are required to provide proof of income, the child's birth date, and immunization records. Head Start offers various supportive services, including social services, parent involvement, nutrition, mental health, health education, support for disabilities, dental care, and transportation. The program aims to enhance and support the lives of children, families, staff, and the community, helping families navigate life's challenges through quality education and family-centered services. It serves low-income children aged 0-5 years with a five-day-a-week program lasting 12 hours, providing four meals daily. Parents are encouraged to participate as volunteers and can benefit from positive parenting classes. Transportation services are available, and the program supports both English and Spanish speakers.
