About this resource

Child Find is a program that implements an evaluative process to fulfill the federal requirement of locating, assessing, and identifying children who may have disabilities or developmental delays, making them eligible for services as outlined in the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA). The aim is to find students not currently enrolled in public schools who may qualify for special education services. This includes preschool-aged children, those in private or parochial schools, and home-schooled students. Services are available in both Spanish and English.

Intake Procedure: Contact the Child Find Office for details. Completion of the CCSD online registration is necessary prior to accepting any referrals.

Fees: There are no fees associated with this service.

Who can use this

Children aged 3 to 21 who are not enrolled in a CCSD school and are suspected of having a disability or developmental delay are eligible, with a focus on enrolling them in school by age 3, ideally in an inclusive setting.
