New York State Office Of Temporary And Disability Assistance (Otda)

The New York State ERAP applications will cease to be accepted after January 20, 2023, at 9:00 pm Eastern Standard Time. After this deadline, individuals will not have the ability to submit new applications through the portal or finalize any applications that were initiated but not submitted. Applications that are submitted before the portal's closure on January 20, 2023, will be processed in the order they were received, in accordance with state laws and program guidelines. The Office of Temporary and Disability Assistance (OTDA) is currently assessing and processing eligible ERAP applications that were submitted by October 31, 2022. More applications may be reviewed and processed as funding becomes available in the future. Once the portal is closed to new applications, tenants and landlords can still upload necessary documentation for applications that are pending. The program aims to provide rental assistance to low and moderate-income households facing the risk of homelessness or housing instability by covering rental arrears, temporary rental assistance, and utility arrears. Households eligible for assistance with rental arrears may also qualify for help with utility arrears at the same rental unit, but utility arrears cannot be applied for without having rental arrears first.

Intake Procedure: While new applications are not being accepted, the portal remains available for checking the status of applications and uploading documents.
