About this resource

This program provides health insurance to individuals aged 65 and above, those who have been on Social Security disability benefits for at least two consecutive years, as well as insured workers and their dependents who require dialysis or a kidney transplant due to chronic kidney disease. It also issues new or replacement Social Security numbers and cards, and offers benefits to disabled workers below Full Retirement Age (between 65 and 67) and their dependents. Additionally, benefits are available to the survivors of insured workers, including widows or widowers aged 60 and older, those of any age with dependent children under 16 or disabled, and disabled widows aged 50 to 60 who meet specific disability criteria. Monthly payments are made to disabled adults and children with limited income and resources, and benefits are also available for individuals aged 65 and older without disabilities. Furthermore, the program connects recipients of Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI) and/or Supplemental Security Income (SSI) with complimentary employment services, which encompass career counseling, vocational rehabilitation, and job placement and training.
