About this resource

This initiative provides consumer advocacy and educational support for customers experiencing financial hardships, including crisis intervention and connections to local financial assistance programs, weatherization services, and energy conservation referrals. It also offers information on energy assistance, friendly reminder programs, balanced billing, and payment arrangements. Additionally, there are materials and training available for human resources personnel regarding the Home Energy Fair Practices Act (HEFPA), NYSEG programs, and safety measures for electric and gas usage. The Energy Assistance Programs aim to help qualifying customers manage their energy bills through benefits such as bill credits, rate reductions, arrears forgiveness, and waivers for reconnection fees. Customers receiving regular or emergency HEAP payments may qualify for monthly bill credits. As of October 2024, inquiries from NYSEG customers should be directed to NYSEG customer service at 800-572-1111, available Monday through Friday from 7 am to 7 pm. If a customer advocate is required, the account will be referred accordingly, and direct contact information for Marcy should not be shared.
