About this resource
The Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program (HEAP) is a federally funded initiative that provides support to eligible households in fulfilling their energy requirements. If you qualify, you can receive one regular HEAP benefit each program year and may also qualify for emergency HEAP benefits if you face the risk of running out of fuel or having your utility service disconnected. The 2024-2025 Regular HEAP benefit became available on November 1, 2024. The First and Second Emergency HEAP benefits are set to open on January 2, 2025. Additionally, the Heating Equipment Repair and Replacement benefit was available starting October 1, 2024, and the HEAP Clean and Tune benefit also opened on October 1, 2024. The Cooling Assistance Benefit is expected to start on April 15, 2025.

Who can use this
- Regular HEAP is available for low-income families, individuals aged 60 and older, and those with permanent disabilities receiving Food Stamps, TANF, or SSI, while Emergency HEAP is for low-income families and individuals experiencing emergencies.
