The independent apartment communities, which are not classified as assisted living, feature one or two-bedroom apartments depending on the location. Monthly rent is determined by the adjusted income of the tenant or couple. To enhance cost savings, some utilities are included in the rent. Each apartment comes with a kitchen that has ample cupboard space, a stove, and a refrigerator. The complexes are designed for security with controlled access. Additional safety features include stove fire prevention devices, grab bars in bathrooms, emergency pull cords, and a 24-hour response system. Available amenities may differ by location.
