North Hempstead Housing Authority

This initiative provides studio and one-bedroom apartments for senior citizens or individuals with disabilities who qualify based on low-income standards. Rent is determined by the total gross household income. The program primarily serves residents of North Hempstead and requires appointments for inquiries. Available properties include Homestead Senior Apartments, Magnolia Gardens, and Manhasset Valley. As of 2017, Public Housing has transitioned to the Rental Assistance Demonstration Program (RAD). It's important to note that applying for the RAD Wait-list means applying for an apartment at either Magnolia Gardens or Manhasset Valley. Due to the dynamic nature of the wait-list, we cannot guarantee a specific timeframe for when an applicant may receive an apartment offer. Applicants are prioritized based on various preference points, including application submission date, local residency, homelessness, veteran status, and building preference. All questions regarding applications and their status must be submitted via mail. Applicants are responsible for updating any changes to their application, such as address or contact details, in writing or online at northhempstead.housingmanager.com/application/lookup.
