The Home Energy Assistance Program (HEAP) processes applications for financial support aimed at low-income individuals, featuring several benefit options: Regular benefit helps with heating costs for low-income households. Emergency benefit supports those experiencing a heating or heat-related energy crisis. Heating equipment repair or replacement aids low-income homeowners in fixing or replacing their heating systems. Heating Equipment Tune-Up offers inspections and maintenance before the heating season begins. Cooling Assistance provides services to HEAP-eligible households, particularly those with a medical condition that worsens in heat.
Intake Procedure: Non-public assistance clients should contact DSS reception, while public assistance clients need to reach out to their DSS worker. Services are available by appointment only.
Fees: There are no charges for these services.
Who can use this
- Applicants must reside in the service area, and eligibility is determined by family size and income; cooling assistance requires HEAP qualification and a family member with a heat-sensitive medical condition.
