Eastern Orleans Community Center - Community Action Of Orleans & Genesee

This program provides emergency assistance on a walk-in or referral basis, which includes access to a food pantry, cleaning and hygiene supplies, diapers, and baby wipes (while supplies last), as well as vouchers for clothing and household items. It also offers emergency rental assistance to help prevent eviction (subject to funding availability) and emergency utility assistance to prevent service disconnection (also based on funding availability). Additional services include public computer and internet access, daily lunches through a community kitchen, resource information, and social and recreational activities like bingo and crafts. A surplus food distribution occurs three times a week; refer to the Hours section for details. Case management services are provided to help individuals and families connect with vital community resources, create personalized plans, and receive ongoing support aimed at fostering long-term stability and self-sufficiency while addressing immediate needs.

Intake Procedure: Individuals can call or visit during service hours. Proof of identity and income is required; please see the documentation requirements below. Proof of ID: Adults 18 and older need a government-issued ID, such as a driver's license, state ID card, or a photo benefit card. For children, acceptable forms include a birth certificate, insurance card, or student ID. Proof of income: Wage earners must provide their two most recent paystubs; SSI/SSDI recipients should present a Social Security award letter or the latest bank statement showing deposits; pension/annuity recipients need an annual award letter or the latest bank statement; child support recipients must provide a court order or a printout of pay history from the child support website; and TANF/DSS recipients should present their DSS budget.

Fees: Services are free. For the community kitchen, a $2.00 donation is appreciated but not mandatory.
