Eastern Orleans Community Center - Community Action Of Orleans & Genesee

This program delivers emergency services on both a walk-in and referral basis, which encompasses access to a food pantry, cleaning and hygiene supplies, diapers, and baby wipes (subject to availability), as well as vouchers for clothing and household items. It provides emergency rental assistance to avert eviction and emergency utility aid to prevent service disconnection, both contingent on available funding. Additionally, it offers public access to computers and the internet, daily lunches via a community kitchen, resource information, and social and recreational activities like bingo and crafts. A surplus food distribution occurs three times a week; refer to the Hours section for details. Case management services are also available to help individuals and families connect with vital community resources, create personalized plans, and offer ongoing support aimed at fostering long-term stability and self-sufficiency while meeting immediate needs.

Intake Procedure: Individuals can call or visit during service hours. Documentation of identity and income is necessary; please see the requirements below. Proof of ID: Adults 18 and older need a government-issued ID, such as a driver’s license, state ID card, or a photo benefit card. For children, acceptable forms include a birth certificate, insurance card, or student ID. Proof of income: Wage earners must provide their two most recent paystubs; SSI/SSDI recipients should present their Social Security award letter or the latest bank statement showing deposits; pension/annuity recipients need to show their annual award letter or the most recent bank statement indicating deposits; child support recipients must provide a court order or a printout of their pay history from the child support website; TANF/DSS recipients should present the DSS budget.

Fees: Services are free. A $2.00 donation for the Community Kitchen is appreciated but not mandatory.
