About this resource
The Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program (HEAP) is a federally funded initiative designed to help eligible households with their energy expenses. Those who qualify may receive one standard HEAP benefit each program year, and may also qualify for emergency assistance if they face the risk of running out of fuel or having their utility service disconnected. The 2024-2025 Regular HEAP benefit became available on November 1, 2024, while the First and Second Emergency benefits are set to open on January 2, 2025. Additionally, the Heating Equipment Repair and Replacement benefit commenced on October 1, 2024, and the Cooling Assistance Benefit is expected to be available starting April 15, 2025.

Who can use this
- Regular HEAP is available to low-income families, individuals aged 60 and above, and those with permanent disabilities receiving Food Stamps, TANF, or SSI; Emergency HEAP is for low-income families and individuals facing a crisis.
