About this resource
The Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program (HEAP) is a federally funded initiative designed to help eligible households with their energy requirements. If you qualify, you may receive one standard HEAP benefit each program year, and you might also qualify for emergency HEAP benefits if you risk running out of fuel or having your utility services disconnected. The Regular HEAP benefit for the 2024-2025 period began on November 1, 2024, while the First and Second Emergency benefits are expected to start on January 2, 2025. Additionally, the Heating Equipment Repair and Replacement benefit opened on October 1, 2024, and the HEAP Clean and Tune benefit also commenced on October 1, 2024. The Cooling Assistance Benefit is set to launch on April 15, 2025.

Who can use this
- Regular HEAP: Low-income households, seniors aged 60 and older, individuals with permanent disabilities, and those receiving Food Stamps, TANF, or SSI. Emergency HEAP eligibility includes low-income families and individuals facing an emergency related to furnace repair or replacement.
