About this resource
The Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program (HEAP) is a federally funded initiative designed to help eligible households manage their energy costs. Qualified individuals may receive one standard HEAP benefit each program year and might also qualify for emergency HEAP benefits if they face the risk of running out of fuel or having their utility services disconnected. The Regular HEAP benefit for the 2024-2025 period commenced on November 1, 2024. The First and Second Emergency HEAP benefits are expected to begin on January 2, 2025. Additionally, the Heating Equipment Repair and Replacement benefit opened on October 1, 2024, while the HEAP Clean and Tune benefit also started on October 1, 2024. The Cooling Assistance Benefit is slated to open on April 15, 2025.

Who can use this
- Regular HEAP: Low-income families, individuals aged 60 and older, and those with permanent disabilities receiving Food Stamps, TANF, or SSI; Emergency HEAP eligibility includes low-income families and individuals facing emergencies.
