About this resource
The Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program (HEAP) is a federally funded initiative designed to help qualifying households with their energy costs. Eligible participants can receive one standard HEAP benefit each program year and may qualify for emergency HEAP benefits if they are at risk of running out of fuel or having their utility service disconnected. The Regular HEAP benefit for the 2024-2025 period commenced on November 1, 2024, while the First and Second Emergency benefits are set to begin on January 2, 2025. Additionally, the Heating Equipment Repair and Replacement benefit was made available on October 1, 2024, and the Cooling Assistance Benefit is expected to open on April 15, 2025.

Who can use this
- Regular HEAP: Low-income families, seniors aged 60 and older, and individuals with permanent disabilities receiving Food Stamps, TANF, or SSI; Emergency HEAP: Low-income families and individuals facing an emergency.
