The initiative provides a variety of combined educational and counseling resources to assist ex-offenders in their reintegration into society. Re-ROUT aims to lower the recidivism rates among individuals who have finished their time in jail or completed probation in Suffolk County. Understanding that the initial weeks after release are critical for a successful transition, participants are encouraged to reach out to the Re-ROUT office at the BOCES Ward Technical Center in Riverhead promptly after their release. At this office, ex-offenders are introduced to the Re-ROUT services available to them. In the following weeks, the Re-ROUT office offers essential services, referrals, and support to facilitate the clients' reintegration. New York Probation and Correction Officers inform individuals on probation and in prison about the Re-ROUT Program during their initial orientation. As part of the In-Jail Education Program, Re-ROUT counselors collaborate with the Probation Department to assist interested clients in creating career, life, and education plans. After completing their correctional or probation commitments, ex-offenders are encouraged to visit the Re-ROUT office at the Bixhorn Technical Center (BTC) in Bellport, where they will meet the Re-ROUT
