About this resource
This initiative provides financial support to residents of the Town of Brookhaven who have rental arrears resulting from financial challenges linked to COVID-19. The Long Island Housing Partnership oversees the program, which has a funding limit and pays landlords directly. Assistance is available on a first-come, first-served basis until funds run out.
Intake Process: Interested individuals can find application and program guidelines online at https://www.lihp.org/docsrentarrears.html. Applications can be submitted online, in person, or via mail.
Fees: There are no associated fees.
Who can use this
- CDBG-CV funds are designated for low to moderate income residents of the Town of Brookhaven who have rental arrears due to COVID-19 financial hardships. The Long Island Housing Partnership (LIHP) administers the program, which has funding limits and pays landlords directly. Eligibility criteria include: • The applicant/unit must be a primary residence in the Town of Brookhaven • Household income must be below 80% of HUD AMI at the time of assistance. Refer to the income chart below. • Applicants must demonstrate financial hardship due to COVID-19 • Applicants must have been current on their lease before April 1, 2020. • Applicants must be U.S. citizens or Qualified Aliens • Landlords must consent to participate in the program • Rental units must have a valid municipal rental permit/operational authority • Units must pass lead-based paint inspections if applicable • All required documentation must be submitted for consideration • Duplication of benefits is not allowed • Some applicants may be ineligible.
