Psychiatric Department

This facility features a 23-bed acute psychiatric unit certified by the New York State Department of Health and the Office for Mental Health. It is connected to the University Hospital at Stony Brook, Department of Psychiatry. The unit caters to patients with mental health issues, including those who are mentally ill and chemically addicted (MICA). The treatment team consists of board-certified psychiatrists, psychiatric nurses, clinical social workers, recreation therapists, and registered dietitians, providing round-the-clock nursing care from psychiatric nurses and assistants. The center employs a structured treatment approach tailored to individual needs, offering therapies such as medication management, individual and group therapy, family counseling, and electro-convulsive therapy (ECT). Outpatient psychiatric services are available at 300 Atlantic Avenue, Greenport.
