About this resource
The Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program (HEAP) is a federally funded initiative designed to help eligible households with their energy needs. If you qualify, you can receive one regular HEAP benefit each program year and may also qualify for emergency HEAP benefits if you risk running out of fuel or having your utility services disconnected. The Regular HEAP benefit for the 2024-2025 program year began on November 1, 2024, while the First and Second Emergency benefits are set to open on January 2, 2025. Additionally, the Heating Equipment Repair and Replacement benefit opened on October 1, 2024, and the Cooling Assistance Benefit is scheduled to start on April 15, 2025. For more information, clients are encouraged to contact the agency directly.
Who can use this
- Regular HEAP: Available to low-income families, individuals aged 60 and older, and those with permanent disabilities receiving Food Stamps, TANF, or SSI; Emergency HEAP is for low-income families and individuals facing urgent situations.
